UCIEP Stance on U.S. Presidential Executive Order 13780

UCIEP advocates for all students who desire to study English at universities and colleges in the United States. Since our inception, UCIEP has fostered integrity, excellence, and collaboration in international education. Therefore, we stand against Executive Order 13769, which categorically prevents educators from promoting these values.

Furthermore, UCIEP opposes Executive Order 13780, which likewise undermines integrity, excellence, and collaboration in international education. While this travel ban is less broad, it continues to summarily suspend the issuance of new visas for students from Iran, Libya, Somalia, Syria, Sudan, and Yemen. Visa applicants are judged by their country of citizenship and not by their character or intent.
